Help!!!Question about building a Website!!!!!?

I have just learned how to write JavaScript code and I am working on building a website. At this point I have all my pages designed. My question is once I purchase a Web Hosting Plan , will I be able to store all my Images in there along with my webpages as long as I purchase enough space needed? Not sure if this makes sense to yous guys so if you need clarification just ask. Keep in mind I am a beginner. Thanks any feedback is appreciated.

Yes darling, once you purchase a hosting plan, you can copy all your files into your hosting companys server and bingo you are ready to fly, as long as you name your home page index.htm tho.

I think most of them comes with an average of 100mb of space, even for the most basic packages and I%26#039;m sure your website shouldnt be more that 5meg at the most since you say you are a beginner so I guess you have all the space in the world.

But when you register, you have to do your domain first, then the hosting. The domain is the naming procedure i.e www.whatever.com and if this is just the one you do, you cant upload anyfiles in there. The hosting is the one that actually allows you to upload the files to the server.

I signed up for hosting and selected a linux server. The page has a lot of work on it, but now I want to try adding asp to it so I can do more. From a lesson that I%26#039;m starting, it looks like it only works with IIS. Is this true?

As pointed out by a few others. ASP is developed by Microsoft, therefore Microsoft being Microsoft only allow this code to work on Windows servers.

If you are looking to develop a database driven website on a linux server i suggest going for PHP. I use both ASP and PHP and find PHP a nice code to work with. However if you want a easy option if you select ASP, dreamweaver will do a lot of the hard coding for you. For example, this kind of script:

Maybe you should use a language that works on all major operating systems: Windows, Mac, *and* of course Linux. I need to build two sites: have used Yahoo%26#039;s before and it looks cheapo; Primal Egg I was using but they seem to have dropped my hosting altogether, so I want to rebuild two sites, using free templates; need up to 5-7 pages, with scrolling photo support; templates need to be very colorful, maybe with very nice painting of butterflies....the sites are for one beautiful jazz vocalist, and one lady friend who has a Black hair braiding business. seeing ebay charge like 12p to load up pictures on ebay, i have decided that i should create my own free web page and upload pics on the webpage and have it hosted by geocities.

what message can i write to the ebayer viewing the auction, that since ebay won%26#039;t allow url%26#039;s to be typed in desctription of the item on for sale, that they should message me via ebay email, so that i can send them a url link of the external picture webpage.

I need to build a website. I downloaded Yahoo Site Builder, but it seems to indicate that I have to have my site hosted by Yahoo in order to publish the final pages? Is this true? How to make..?

I want to make a webcomic and i was wondering if anyone knows a good web hosting place where i can have an unlimited number of pages, a way to get images on it, prefferably be able to make my own domain name, and be free. Anyone have any ideas? (if you know one that im not allowed to have my own domain name please suggest it and tell me that). Please no sarcastic answers.

Ok, so there is absolutely no way to get a top level domain for free, that of course includes com/org/net/nu/etc. And any foreign extensions, .ca/.co.uk/etc. The only option out there are domain redirections. I like to refer them as %26quot;Fake Domains.%26quot; Like .tk. and .co.nr. And the idea is simple: You create a site on a freeserver, and you have your .tk/.co.nr name redirect to your site on your freeserver, so instead of geocities.com/fluffybuncakes, your site would be read as http://fluffybuncakes.tk. And no, there is no way to get a top level domain redirection for free.

The process of getting a domain is easy-

You buy one for 10 bucks, and yes, you get to choose your own name, and then you buy a hosting package on top of that, I pay 30 dollars, including the domain for my small hosting package. All hosting sites, including freeservers, should let you have unlimited pages and for you to be able to upload images, except for the fact that for a domain, you%26#039;d be using a cpanel (Or another similiar system) to manage your domain and a FTP program to upload your files.

If your budget is absolutely 0, then I%26#039;m afraid that you can%26#039;t have a domain name. There is just no way of getting around that you know? Think of it like this:

A freeserver is basically a bare-bones way to make a website. It%26#039;s almost like some people expect more than a sub domain with limited features and possibly ads, for free....I mean really, I consider a domain name to be an upgrade, and really, there is no such thing as free upgrades on top of a free service.

Alright, you want to start a web comic, great. Honestly it sounds like something you can EASILY accomplish on a subdomain, on a freeserver.
