Hi! I Just set up my IIS webserver and tried to test it on another computer outside my LAN. I got a %26quot;page could not be displayed%26quot;. So I decided to do a little bit of research, and i found out I had to forward my port 80. Then it turned out cox internet blocks port 80, so i didn%26#039;t test it. So then I changed the port on my server and the port on my router/firewall and when I tested it on the same computer thats hosting my server, it went to my router login! I tried it on another computer on my LAN and it did the same thing! I can%26#039;t give out the URL for security reasons because i dont want anyone trying to break into my router settings. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
Thanks,
Newbie Web Developer
My IIS server registered with a domain from no-ip.com links to my router login?
make sure that you have a NAT forwarding rule set for your new port.
also, i know its silly to ask, but did you specify the port when you requested the page?
like (without specifics)
http (colon)(slash)(slash)[your domain name](colon)[your new port number]
please update the question with the url you requested (just substitute a fake name in for your domain name)
in the meantime, don%26#039;t worry yet. No IP is only a DNS redirector, not a cache. your router most likely responded because it knew the request originated from within your LAN. Most routers do not allow remote access to settings from the internet, and when they do, its on a different port. ask a trusted friend to check the same URL that gives you the login from her house. She will most likely end up with a server not found error, and not your router. Do check on this promptly though.

You%26#039;ll find out how to do this by reading your documentation but the key ingredient you are missing is setting up whats called a %26quot;DMZ%26quot; (a play on words like the %26quot;Demilitarized Zone%26quot;) Basically its a no-man%26#039;s land between your inside network (router and LAN) and the internet. IIS has to be running from the DMZ which effectively blocks incoming traffic from your network.
If your domain is linked up to your router I%26#039;d say you have a major security breach.
Read up on DMZ.
Other Replys:For a start you can not serve the web pages externally if port 80 is blocked, you need it for any normal connection. Turn OFF any forwarding you have set up. You then need to check on your router that your admin is turned off on the web side. You will need to read the manual for this, as they are all different. The security of your whole network is at risk. If you can not solve this quickly, I suggest you do a hard reset on the router, then re-configure it from scratch using the basic settings. Then do NOT play with it until you know what you are doing. This is nothing to do with DMZ, do not use DMZ as it is a serious security risk in itself.
