I see a lot of blogs out there and I have several with blogspot but I want to host my own blog. I have a web host. The host has geeklog installed. I find the templates ugly and I want to use a template that I found in Movable Type. It says I can use the template as long as the designer%26#039;s blurb is on every page. This isn%26#039;t possible with the out of the box DNN setup. You may have to find a custom module to handle this.
The problem is that DNN doesn%26#039;t really differentiate content based on a User ID. If a user is registered, they can access any module that allows for it. You%26#039;d have to manually add them to an access list of the repository module.
You could, however, alter the repository module to display downloads based on the logged-in User.

Hi, I%26#039;m an Apache person, but I understand that IIS out of the box has default.htm as the file it loads. You said that you had tried to edit default.htm (is that correct? I heard that it is a dynamic page, so perhaps that%26#039;s why you edit it but don%26#039;t see the changes). Forget it perhaps and sort out the config of IIS so that it loads the index.html first. Try within %26quot;Site settings%26quot;. Also, you could try changing the filename of index.html to index.htm as I heard it might be configured to load. Not sure if this will help, but hope so.

Other Replys:For an IIS server, I believe that the default file extension is .htm. The server, if it%26#039;s properly configured, should look for a file called index.htm, then index.html, index.asp, and I think even index.txt - so it%26#039;s possible that your server is only looking for index.htm and can%26#039;t find it.
Try either re-configuring the server, or re-naming your file, and then you should be ok.

im having problems with our internet on my desktop and my laptop(laptop uses a router)...on both my desktop and laptop it has internet problems we have dsl and i have a router so i can use my laptop around the house..whenever i try to connect to the internet it will but sometimes when i do a search or go to a page it just pops up with a white back ground and alot of script..sometimes it says error host not available..sometimes it says xml error..most of the time random script pops up or it just says done with a blank white screen when tryin to access any web page..the internet works normal around 1/2 the time...i have run winsock and i also have anti virus anti spyware and anti malware programs on my computers..i have tryed resetting the dsl box and router..idk what to do...some1 told me to download highjack this..im not sure how to work that application tho..please any help and advice is greatly appreciated..please be as thorough as u can bc this is a huge problem for me..than

the same thing happens on both your desktop %26amp; laptop? if it happens on one i%26#039;d say its a PC issue but if it happens on both it could be the router. try unplugging the router and plug your PC directly in to the modem and see how it works, if it works fine, you may need to replace the router. You could use underscores (_) instead of spaces. They are much prettier in an URL and I%26#039;m pretty sure they are OK with SEO. So rename your file to %26quot;CAD_Drafting_FAQS.htm%26quot; and the URL will become %26quot;example.com/CAD_Drafting_FAQS.htm%26quot;

A good hosting server is going to depend on what you want out of it. Does it need FrontPage extensions, .NET, PHP, etc.

I got an account from dyndns.org and got XXXXXXXXXXX.dyndns.org (domain). I have no idea how to set up web server. I used apache and tried ftp server but when i type in XXXXXXXXXX.dyndns.org it will take me to the router log in page. How can i make it go to my computers server?
I port forwarded the ports on the router 21(ftp) and 80 for http server and tried without forward but still no luck and tried others.

You have to set the server up first, then set the router to port forward from that port to your machine in your local network....

In a nutshell, the web server knows which is the root folder for the domain name and it resolves paths in web pages accordingly.

I have 03 Windows Server setup with IIS 6.0, and I can%26#039;t figure out why I can%26#039;t publish multiple websites correctly. Right now, all three of my websites files are published on the web server, however when I try to go to one of the sites in a browser, I can%26#039;t get it to pull up right. It will just go to the the first website I published. I have all 3 of the websites posted in the websites folder in IIS, and have virtual directories for two sites in the default web page folder. When I look in the inetpub/www folder, I only have the webfiles for my first site that does not have a virtual directory. Do I need to somehow get all of the 3 sites webfiles in this inetpub/www folder? I have all the websites pointed at the same ip, and host names are set for each of them. The DNS is set up correctly with the domain registrar. When I try to put all of the 3 sites webfiles in the inetpub/www folder manually, only one site will pull up in the browser do to conflict. What should I do here?

Since all of the websites you have published point to the same IP address and the same port number, you have to differentiate them somehow. You do that by DNS. In the properties of your websites under %26quot;Web Site Identification%26quot;, click Advanced. In there, edit the website identity that is listed, or create a new one. Either way it doesn%26#039;t matter. You need to add a Host Header Name, which is the DNS name of whatever website you are editing.
Your first website would look like this:

I am setting up a website for a club which will need to have pages for results of weekly competitions included. These will be HTML documents. Depending on the quality and format of your website. If it is going to contain a lot of pictures, change them to jpeg and reduce the resolution. Hundred ++ pages should be fine.
Other Replys:As long as you are not hosting videos, you should be able to create a few hundred HTML pages. If you are going to host image galleries, that might eat up space quickly, but you can at least host a good amount of images along with a hundred or so webpages.
